Leesville, LA

Perfect weather and ground conditions greeted around 200 participants at Leesville Motorsports Park, Round 2 of the MTA LA Cross-Country Series.  Two-Time World Motocross Champion, Trampas Parker, received his new Munn Racing KTM 450 just in time for the event where he went on to lead every lap and cruised in for the win.  Parker took home the majority of the $500 cash purse, with Nathan Knight and Andy Beebe also grabbing some cash – making it a KTM podium sweep.

As luck would have it Chad Colvin (KTM), XC1 Rider #50, got a flat tire when riding from his camper to the starting line.  But that didn’t stop him from grabbing the holeshot on his backup Yamaha 450.  Several top XC1 class riders were able to get past Colvin on the first lap with Andy Beebe (KTM/Scott Equipment/Hutchinson’s ATV/Adrenaline Motorsports) right on Trampas Parker’s heels coming into the scoring tent at the end of lap one.  Parker (KTM/Munn/TCP MX Schools) remained in the lead for the entire nine-lap race.  XC2 Lites winner Nathan Knight (KTM/ProFlow/Ashlee Knight Photography) put his head down, and from a row back, worked his way up through the pack to take second overall away from Beebe who ended up third by just 14 seconds.  Fourth overall went to Martin Howell (Yam) coming over from Texas to join in the fun while Ryan Breaux put in a great ride to land his Chuck’s Used Appliance/Performance Cycles KTM 200 in fifth overall / 2nd XC2 Lites class.  Clint Woods (KTM/Mike’s Outdoors) picked up his new bike earlier on race day and went on to finish 3rd in the XC2 Lites class and 7th Overall.

With great ground conditions the competition was tight.  A mere 39 seconds separated 2nd Overall Nathan Knight and 6th Overall Stephen Sturges (Suzuki City/ThermoProbe/ThumperRacing/Klim/Revloc/Leading Edge Moto Performance).  John McLemore (Yam), Kevin Hutchinson (Kaw), and MTA’s Jonathan Plunkett (KTM) rounded out the top 10.  XC2 Lites defending champion Jason Reine (KTM) unfortunately got taken out by a lapper which ripped one radiator completely off.  Needless to say his day was ended but that didn’t stop him from jumping on his wife’s TTR125 to continue having a blast on the sandy course [no points / considered DNF].  XC1 defending champion / Round 1 winner Stephen Reed worked this event for bonus points and is currently leading the points standings.

The four mile course featured sandy motocross sections, fun trails, and even a few optional extreme obstacles such as the FilterSolutions.com Ledge/Drop-off, the Enduro Engineering Concrete Pile, and the Debsprints.com Culvert Jump.  Pictured: Trampas Parker launching off the FilterSolution.com sponsored extreme obstacle.  As always look for action-packed pictures and videos on AcadianaRacing.com!
