Bishop Comes Out Smelling Like A Rose

By: Jeffrey Ketchum

Chase Bishop returned to the Mid South Cross Country Series at “The Hanganator at Rose Hill” and put in a dominating performance to take round 2 of the 2011- 2012 season. Darin Downs led the Pro class off the line putting his Yamaha out front. After entering the woods, the Pro class found themselves confused due to trail markings, but came out with Pro-Action KTM’s Dustin Gibson leading, with Yamaha mounted Chase Bishop right on his rear tire. After Gibson fell back to mechanical problems, it was the Obermeyer Yamaha/Off-Camber Racing/WMR backed Bishop leading with defending Mid-South Champion Shane Obanion in second. Obanion made the pass for the lead as Bishop was pitting at the halfway point, but could not stay out front after crashing on a hill. Bishop found his way back into the lead but not before having contact with Obanion who had crashed in the trail. With the lead back, Bishop put the hammer down and held off the charging Mid-South Motoplex/Gill Roofing backed Obanion to take the win. The final spot on the podium went to Damon Prince who made a last lap pass on Brandon Ferguson who held onto fourth, followed by Dillon Phelps in fifth.
