Spencer Cook is young, fast, and looks to be finishing around 5th overall in the '08 SERA Enduro series at only 17 years old. He's qualified for Loretta Lynn's 3 times, won Overall B in '07, and has been up in the top 3 this year in the Hare Scramble series. Read below to get the scoop on Cook:

Racing) Spencer away from racing: (White text-Spencer Cook): I'm 17 years young and I live in Cordova, Tennessee. I go to First Assembly Christian School where I am a Junior. Yea, I started thinkin bout college a little bit but still not sure where I wanna go or what I wanna do. Other than racing I like to go to the lakehouse and hang with Mylan Brewer and my cousin Patrick. I also just picked up golfing, I used to think it was lame, but it's actually pretty fun! But nothin beats racing. |
On finishing 4th overall behind Ousley, Reed, and Parke at the Bear Whiz Enduro - rowed up with Carsten Cagle (KTM) who had bike problems: Ahh yea thanks, yea it was a looong day. I had to work hard for that 4th overall, but Carsten is quick, really quick. I can hang with him for just a little while in the open stuff, but when it gets tight, he disappears. |

On SERA, his accomplishments,
etc.: I've been racing SERA since 2001, and yes I enjoy it a lot. I have 11 helmets with hopefully 1 on the way. Every once in a while I will race a different series like Mid South Winter Series. I really don't know which one I like better, Harescrambles or Enduros. I guess it just depends on where I am racing. I'm startin to get the time keeping thing down, but it's still a little sketchy. And no I do not like the Restart format. To me it takes away the purpose of calling it an Enduro. It's like one long harescramble. We are there to see who can ride and keep time, not just ride the fastest. |
On Bikes: Yea I'm still on that two fiddy, two smoker. That and a 200 KTM are about all the big bikes that I have ridden. Next year I will either be on a 250 or a 300, (definitely KTM). I don't know which one though. Girls: Yea it ain't goin too hot right now, I just lost a girl I actually really like and... Yea let's leave it at that. |
On Injuries: Injuries, yea I've had a couple over the past 2 summers, but the way I look at it, I wouldn't be where I am now, because when I am hurt I see other people winning and it makes me want to work harder to get well and see if I can beat them. I guess that keeps me from not getting burned out. |

On who taught him how to ride: My dad definitely taught me how to ride. I don't think he could've kept me off of a motorcycle if he tried. He introduced me to KTM at a young age. I have beaten a lot of my dad's finishes, but from what I hear he was pretty fast back in the day. But I guess the helmets tell all, right Dad? I am working on improving my time keeping skills right now. |

The folks Spencer would
like to thank:
Hmmm... People I would like to thank
well first off I would like to thank God for keepin me safe most of
the time, and letting me be fortunate enough to be able to travel
this part of the country to race. Next in line is my dad and mom. If
it wasn't for my Pops I wouldn't be where I am in racing today. Now
my mom, she doesn't come to the races because it scares her. She
doesn't wanna see her baby get hurt. I can understand. But next is
Tim Howell, he is the man, what can I say. He knows everything there
is to know about my bike and everything else for that matter. Thanks
Tim, couldn't do it without you. Now other than friends and family I
would like to thank my sponsors, Moose, Smith, Alpinestars, Twin
Air, Dunlop, S.O.S.(Shoals Outdoor Sports), Cycle Sport , and Cycle
Gear
